The initiative prioritizes the welfare of pregnant women, nursing mothers, adolescent girls, and children under the age of six.

Karnataka Anganwadi Workers Rules and Regulations 2025
a. Anganwadi Workers/Helpers uniform: According to the Saksham Anganwadi – Poshan 2.0 guidelines issued by the Central Government on August 14, 2022, an amount of Rs. 500/- is being deposited into the accounts of anganwadi workers and helpers for the acquisition of two sarees annually.
b. Pre-School Kit: Each Anganwadi Center and Mini Anganwadi Center is allocated a sum of Rs. 5,000/- under the Comprehensive Child Development Scheme Administration Cost. This funding will be distributed among all Anganwadi centers. Additionally, a state-level committee has been established across all Anganwadi centers, comprising highly qualified education professionals and various selected ICDS workers.
c. Medicine Kit: Under the administrative costs of ICDS, medicine kits are supplied to 63,030 Anganwadi Centres and 2,329 mini Anganwadi Centres, with each Anganwadi Centre receiving Rs. 1,500 and each mini Anganwadi Centre receiving Rs. 750.
Construction of Karnataka Anganwadi Buildings 2025
The state is home to 69,919 Anganwadi Centres, of which 47,236 centres (67.55%) operate from their own buildings. The remaining centres are situated in rented facilities, including school buildings, community halls, panchayat buildings, and locations associated with youth and women’s organizations, as well as other rent-free structures.
Facilities Provided to Karnataka Anganwadi Workers And Helpers 2025
- Honorarium is awarded according to the level of seniority.
- Retired Anganwadi Workers and Helpers are entitled to a gratuity benefit.
- In the event of the death of an Anganwadi Worker (AWW) or Anganwadi Helper (AWH) while in service, a compensation of Rs. 50,000/- is provided to their dependents.
- A maximum of Rs. 50,000/- is available for medical reimbursement.
- Under the NPS Lite scheme, a pension contribution of Rs. 150/- for AWWs and Rs. 84/- for AWHs is made by the State Government.
- For those not enrolled in the NPS Lite scheme, financial assistance of Rs. 50,000/- is granted to AWWs and Rs. 30,000/- to AWHs.
- Each AWW and AWH receives one pair of uniforms annually, valued at Rs. 500/-.
- Maternity leave is granted for a duration of six months, along with honorarium.
- Employees are entitled to 20 days of casual leave each year.
- There is a provision for 15 days of summer vacation.
- Eligible dependents of AWWs and AWHs who pass away while in service may be appointed to a position on compassionate grounds.
- The implementation of the gratuity facility for AWWs, AWHs, and mini Anganwadi workers is currently being processed for the fiscal year 2025-26.
