Karnataka Home Guard Vacancy 2025: Civil Defence functions as a voluntary organization in collaboration with the Home Guards Organization and is overseen by the Home Ministry of Karnataka. Its main goal is to protect the lives and property of citizens during external threats and natural disasters. Volunteers are recruited and trained in essential Civil Defence techniques and various services aimed at implementing Civil Defence strategies. The Government of India has classified Bangalore City, Mallapura in U.K. District, and Shakthinagar in Raichur District as Category II Civil Defence Towns in Karnataka, maintaining this status throughout the reporting period.

Civil Defence initiatives are being carried out according to a systematic plan, with Civil Defence controllers appointed to manage the operations.

The department is administered by the Director of Civil Defence, based in Bangalore, Karnataka. This role is held ex-officio by the Director General of Police and Commandant General of Home Guards, who also supervises the Fire and Emergency Services in the state.

Assisting the Director in administrative duties are an Additional Director and a Deputy Director, with the Inspector General of Police and Additional Commandant General of Home Guards, along with the Deputy Commandant General of Home Guards, serving in these positions ex-officio.

The Commissioner of Police for Bangalore City supports the Director as the controller of Civil Defence for headquarters services. Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioners of Uttara Kannada and Raichur Districts act as controllers for Civil Defence operations in Mallapur and Shakthinagar Civil Defence Towns, respectively.

Age Limit for Karnataka Home Guard Vacancy 2025

Despite the stipulations set forth in Rule 6 of the Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977, candidates are required to be a minimum of 21 years of age, with the following upper age limits applicable:

  • 28 years for individuals from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or other Backward Classes.
  • 26 years for all other applicants.

Furthermore, candidates who are Ex-servicemen discharged due to demobilization are also subject to these age criteria.

Objectives of Karnataka Home Guard 2025

The main objective of this Department is to safeguard lives, minimize property loss, and maintain uninterrupted production. Civil Defence efforts enhance the routine functions of various departments, allowing them to adapt to emergencies while continuing normal operations across all sectors.

The Civil Defence initiatives include:

a) Educational programs and training sessions.
b) A systematic and organized warning system.
c) Rescue missions for individuals in distress.
d) First Aid services.
e) Establishment of welfare facilities, which include safe evacuations, support for the homeless, and the storage and distribution of essential supplies.
f) Designation of hospitals and the assignment of medical and nursing staff.
g) Implementation of emergency sanitation protocols and alternative water supply solutions.
h) Mobilization of transportation assets.
i) Repairing homes that have sustained damage.
j) Imposing lighting restrictions and camouflaging critical infrastructure.
k) Protecting valuables through secure custody.
l) Special measures to ensure the protection of essential services and key industries.
m) Encouraging public awareness and fostering community cooperation.

Qualification Karnataka Home Guard Vacancy 2025

  • Educational Qualification: Applicants are required to have a degree or an equivalent qualification.

Physical Test – Karnataka Home Guard Vacancy 2025

A) Eligibility Requirements for Male Candidates and Ex-Service Personnel:

  • Height: 170 cm, Chest: 86 cm (fully expanded, with a minimum expansion of 5 cm).
  • For Female Candidates: Height: 170 cm, Weight: 45 kg.

B) Vision Standards:

Applicants must fulfill the following criteria for both distant and near vision, with or without the use of corrective lenses:

  • Distant Vision: Better Eye 6/9, Worse Eye 6/9; or Better Eye 6/9, Worse Eye 6/12.
  • Near Vision: Better Eye 0/6, Worse Eye 0/8.

Each eye must have a complete field of vision. Disqualifying conditions include color blindness, strabismus, or any significant disorders affecting the eyes or eyelids.

C) Hearing Evaluations:

(i) Rinne’s Test
(ii) Weber’s Test
(iii) Tests for Vertigo

Any defects discovered during these evaluations will result in disqualification.

D) Additional Physical Disqualifications:

The following conditions will also lead to disqualification:

(i) Knock Knees
(ii) Bow Legs
(iii) Flat Feet
(iv) Varicose Veins
(v) Speech Impediment

IV. Training: Selected candidates will engage in training programs as established by the Director General of Police and the Commandant General of Home Guards, with the possibility of periodic updates. Candidates may be terminated if they do not successfully complete the necessary evaluations.

V. Probation: Candidates will undergo a probationary period lasting two years and six months, which encompasses the training time, commencing from their employment date.

For Promotion: To qualify for promotion, candidates must have a minimum of five years of service in the position of Assistant Instructor.
