Madhya Pradesh Home Guard Vacancy 2025: According to Section 7 (1) of the Madhya Pradesh and Berar Home Guards Act of 1947, every Home Guard is mandated to carry out specific duties related to the protection of individuals, safeguarding property, and providing assistance in matters of public safety and welfare during their training and reserved service periods. Each Home Guard is required, as per the applicable regulations, to promptly adhere to and implement all orders issued by authorized personnel, collect information relevant to public safety, communicate it without delay to their superior officer, and prevent any criminal activities targeting individuals or property (Section 7 (1) (A)).

The revised responsibilities of the Home Guards have been outlined in the circular VI-14021/15/79-DGCD (HG) dated July 11, 1979, issued by the Director General of Civil Defence (Home Guards) under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, which includes the following:

Providing administrative assistance by engaging with the public through initiatives focused on village development and public welfare.

  • Ensuring the safety of prominent individuals.
  • Acting as an auxiliary force to the police to maintain law and order.
  • Assisting in the administration and protecting life and property during emergencies such as air raids, fires, floods, earthquakes, and epidemics.
  • Promoting communal harmony and supporting the administration in safeguarding vulnerable groups within society.

Madhya Pradesh Home Guard Vacancy and Qualifications 2025

(a) Applicants must be between the ages of 19 and 40

(b) Candidates are required to have a minimum height of 5 feet 4 inches and an unexpanded chest measurement of no less than 31 inches;

(c) Individuals must fulfill the literacy standards as outlined in the standing orders;

(d) Those who have not been sentenced to transportation, imprisonment, or corporal punishment for crimes involving moral turpitude are eligible, provided their conviction has not been overturned through appeal or revision;

(e) Applicants must not have been terminated for misconduct from any government position or local authority;

(f) Candidates should demonstrate good character;

(g) Individuals currently attending any university or educational institution recognized by the Education Department of the Central Provinces and Berar are not eligible.

(2) Interested individuals wishing to serve as a Nagar-sainik (Home Guard) and who satisfy the criteria mentioned in sub-rule (1) may submit their application to the Senani (Commandant) of the Nagar-sena (Home Guards) in their district. This application should be made using Form A attached to these regulations, accompanied by two certificates of good character and a medical certificate verifying physical fitness.

  • Forage cap (Kishti topi) or turban for Sikhs.

The insignia designated for the officers and ranks of the Nagar-sena (Home Guards) are as follows:

(a) Shoulder insignia:

  • Pradhan-Senani (Commandant-General): Two crossed swords accompanied by three stars.
  • Senani (Commandant): Two crossed swords with one star.
  • Sanchalak (Adjutant): Three stars.
  • Gan-pati (Company Commander): Two stars.
  • Gulm-pati (Platoon Commander): One star.

(b) Arm insignia:

  • Adhi-naik: Two chevrons featuring a star.
  • Naik: Two chevrons without a star.
  • Patti-naik: One chevron.
